Kid, you'll move mountains.

1/26/2015 0 Comments American SymbolsThe Statue of Liberty, Mount Rushmore, our flag and the Pledge of Allegiance make an appearance in Kindergarten this week as we learn about American Symbols.
However, on Friday, it is all about 100's day. If you would like to come in to help anytime between 9:50-11:00 or 12:35-2:30, we would love the extra help! We are adding up a storm in math. The kids have found ways to break down numbers to create equivalent equations. In writing, we are adding detail to our writing by answering questions like who, what, where, when and why. Remember to visit our sign-up genius site, under "Links" to volunteer for literacy centers. The kids can't wait to read with you! Mark your calendars: Valentine's Party is on February 13th at 10:00 am.

1/20/2015 0 Comments To the Poles We traveled far south to Antarctica last week. We met Tacky the Penguin and learned about real Emperor Penguins. This week, we fly back north to the Arctic Circle and meet polar bears and Inuit people.
We have been working on addition in math. The kids are using manipulatives to show their understanding. Speaking of math, we have found out that for January only you can try "MathSeeds," a program by the same developers as ReadingEggs, for FREE!! Download today and have some fun! You can find it at http://mathseeds.com/ or in the app store. It is only free in January so download now! The Colorado Junior Eagles came to read to our kinders today. They talked about team work and working hard to achieve your goals. Look for a free ticket to Saturday's game in the take home folder. Next Friday, January 30th, is the 100th Day of school! We would LOVE some extra volunteers throughout the day to help with the activities. Please let me know if you can come for any period of time from 9:30-11:00 or 12:35-2:00. 1/5/2015 0 Comments Winter Wonderland!Welcome back to the second half of Kindergarten. I am excited to see the kids and get back to work and play! This week we will briefly review expectations and routines. We may all be a little rusty after a couple weeks off. Plus, a reminder about how to show ROAR is helpful for everyone.
