Kid, you'll move mountains.
~Dr. Seuss
You made it through the exciting and scary first days of Kindergarten! Congratulations! All the kids did a great job and were a delight to have in class. I can't wait to get to know them all a little better. At Zach Elementary, "ROAR" is more than an angry Dinosaur! We have spent our first week getting to know our new friends and school. Part of that is learning how to act and treat each other, manage the routines of the day, and have fun. I love that our class is already showing that they can be Respectful, Organized, Attentive, and Responsible! Lots of dino stars, golden tickets, and jewels in the jar! When we have problems with friends, we use, “Stop, Walk, Talk” to help ourselves and our friends. We will continue character development next week and begin to explore dinosaurs!
Remember to look in the take-home folder each evening, and send it back to school every day. If you have any notes or paperwork for me, please send them in the folder. We will check the folder every day for notes and paperwork. Thank you for sending healthy, nut and dairy free snacks every day. Please pack snacks outside of lunchboxes (unless the lunchbox only has a snack and no lunch). Lunches are sent down to the cafeteria in the morning, and the kids cannot get them to retrieve snacks at snack time. Same goes for water! Send an extra water bottle if one goes with the lunch. Remember that the first few weeks are a great time to try hot lunch. There are lots of adults in the lunch room helping. Friday, pizza day, is always a big hit! As you read this, note the specials schedule! If you’re on your phone, scroll to the bottom. On a desktop, look to the right! We also have our sight words. We can already spell “red!” The forms tab on the top will lead you to our schedule and curriculum map (both may be subject to change). Make sure your child gets plenty of sleep tonight. Sometimes, the first Monday back is tough on some kids. That is usually when we get the most tears. I’ll be out for recess duty if you need anything! As always, please contact me with any questions or concerns!

8/12/2016 0 Comments Welcome to Kindergarten! Welcome to Kindergarten! We are going to have so much fun learning together. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to email me. I would rather respond to a quick email than have you worry until the first days of school! You should have received your staggered start letter and "Jitter Glitter." If you are registered and did not receive one, please email me as soon as possible. Remember that Open House is Thursday August 18th from 2:30-3:30. Students are welcome to come meet me and see the room. After, an adult should head back to school for Kindergarten back-to-school night from 5:00-6:00 pm. This is an informative night for adults but not for kids. We will fill you in on drop-off/pick-u, daily routines, expectations, and modes of communication. Please be sure to send an adult to this important meeting. Now is a very important time to start getting your child ready for the exhausting first days of school. Begin routines today; an early bed time is crucial to a successful start to kindergarten. Start talking about school and the exciting times ahead and remember to have fun and love on your little ones before you send them off to Kindergarten! |
