Kid, you'll move mountains.

12/8/2015 0 Comments Happy Holidays! The students have been sharing about winter traditions. What fun ways the kids get to spend the season with their families. Sledding, building snowmen, sipping hot chocolate, lighting the menorah, and decorating the tree are just a few of the many memories the children have shared.
This week we learned about Hanukkah. The students learned about the symbols that represent this Jewish holiday including the menorah, dreidel (we even got to play!), latkes, Star of David, and chocolate gelt. Next week, we will focus on Christmas traditions and symbols! In writing, we are wrapping up our unit on teaching books. Every student has become a super writer and actually published a book. What a big accomplishment. Next, we will begin to tell stories. Luckily, we have a fantastic example to follow. Every week, Diane Campbell, a storyteller from Spellbinder, comes on Friday afternoons to share stories with the children. Ask your child about some of her stories. Her words are truly magical! Our Winter party is next Friday from 10:30-11:30. We have some amazing parent volunteers who have been busy elves getting ready! You are welcome to come to the party but please remember that while siblings are welcome, the activities, crafts and snacks are for the kinders. I am sure you will get a few more updates and reminders from me as the busy holiday season continues! Until then, enjoy the season with your family!
