Kid, you'll move mountains.

8/27/2017 0 Comments Week one is done! The first days of kindergarten have come and gone. Can you believe it? All of the kids had a great week. I am impressed with each and every child's unique talents, gifts, and personalities. Thank you again for sharing your joy with me this year!
Please make sure you remind your child to put his or her take home folder in their backpack everyday. During the first few weeks, I emphasize routines, so they need folders to learn what steps to do in the morning and end of day. When reader bags start going home, they will also need to return to school each day as well. I encourage lots of water drinking, so send a water bottle each day. Hopefully, we will be in the routine of sending these back and forth every day soon! The kids are doing a great job learning the lunch room routines. Remember that the first few weeks of school all the Kinder teachers and paras are in the lunchroom to teach the kids how to get through the lunch line. This is the ideal time for kids to try out hot lunch, If you don't pack a drink, remind your child to get a milk from the lunch line. If you would prefer they drink water, please pack an EXTRA water bottle for the lunch cart. All About Me posters went home on Friday. Please check the calendar, and let me know if the assigned date does not work. I am happy to swap dates! Typically, kinder students feel anxious and emotional on the first Monday back to school. They feel all of the same anxious thoughts without the excitement of the first day. If it helps, know that I always have duty on Monday mornings and will be out by the playground. Your child will read your emotions, so try to act nonchalant and encourage confidence. This will be a long week. Bedtimes, routines, and after-school snacks will help with the transition. Have a great week!
