After you go over the report card, let me know if you have any questions or concerns. Please remember that a 3 is the end of year benchmark. There are optional spring conferences in April, but if you'd like to meet sooner instead of in April, I would be happy to do so.
Here's what we are working on: Writing: "How To" Books Math: Subtraction Reading: Using the text to answer comprehension questions and retell Core: Dr. Seuss Science: Spring- See the plants beginning to change? “Sometimes you will never know the value of a moment, until it becomes a memory.” ~Dr. Seuss Have a great week!

2/19/2017 0 Comments President's Day, Hooray!I hope you enjoyed your long weekend and had fun times with family and friends. Remember, there is no school tomorrow, Monday, February 20. Can you believe the second trimester is over!?! Report cards will be sent home on Friday, February 24. Please remember that earning a 3 is the end-of-year expectation. I will include an explanation of the district guidelines on scoring student performance, but you can always let me know if you have any questions.
In class, we have been working on memorizing sight words, phone numbers, addresses, and student identification numbers. Encourage your child to continue working on the at home as well. I believe it is a safety issue for all children to know their phone number and address. In math, we are rocking and rolling with addition and subtraction! The students are learning to justify thinking and show understanding using manipulatives. These skills will help build a solid foundation for mathematic careers. Wow, that's exciting news! You can reinforce all of this at home by making math a part of everyday life. Verbalize how you use math at the grocery store, cooking, at work, driving or telling time. We have reduced the amount of homework that we send home this year. PLEASE remember that instead of worksheets, students need to be working on Reading Eggs and Math-Seeds. These are fantastic programs. Students who have consistently used the programs make tremendous growth! Thank you for supporting your child at home. If you feel like the level is too low, please let me know and I can reset the placement test. |
